YEAR 9: BTEC ART & DESIGN

'COLOUR'

Welcome to Torquay Academy's Creative Arts Department and to your fantastic new

BTEC Art & Design Course.

This year will be spent exploring a foundation of art and design skills and techniques. You will have the opportunity to explore a variety of different art techniques and approaches, that will give you a bank of resources that you will be able to access when later you are producing your own individual and unique projects.

During year one, we plan to teach you a variety of different drawing approaches, painting techniques, art/textiles and 3D approaches, including ceramics.

You will expected to produce independent work in the form of practical assignment work, practice sheets, research and written assignments. All students must complete all homework that is set, to insure good progress and to secure the best possible grades.

You will have your art coursework regularly assessed and tracked and it will be your responsibility to make sure that you are up to date with your assignments. You will take part in regular group, self and teacher assessments and action planning will be an integral part of the course.
