Cycle 2: War & Conflict
Cycle 2
Week 1: Introduction to the war artist Paul Nash. Students will create abstracted landscapes, working with oil pastels, working with block and blended colours.
Week 2: Completing the Paul Nash inspired landscapes
Week 3: An introduction to Henry Moore's shelter drawing produced during the London Blitz. Initial drawings and note making to be presented as an artist's link page.
Week 4: Photo shoot with some students, recreating some of the compositions, poses of the figures in Moore's work. Continuous line drawings in fine liners will be produced, .
Week 5: Chalk on black paper and charcoal on buff paper, working larger, overlapping shapes etc
Week 6: cardboard and wire body shapes, inspired by the drawings. This maquettes may inspire further 3D work
Week 7: Recap and catch up on this cycles work. WWW & EBI and include self, peer and teacher assessment
Week 8:Drawing with a variety of different media, prep for assessment week. 30 second drawings, eyes shut, left hand etc
Assessment Week: Observational drawing task. Army memorabilia.
Super Teaching Week: Observational drawing feedback, review and repeat
