The Formal Elements in Art & Design
Students are introduced to the formal elements in art & design. These include colour, line, tone, texture, pattern, shape and form. Students will experiment with a variety of different media and engage in observational drawing.
Cycle 3 will focus on colour, looking at the colour wheel, the primary colours, secondary, tertiary and the complementary colours, etc.
Week 1 - An introduction to colour theory, students to make a wheel
Half Term Week
Week 2 - The creating a colour collage looking at hot and cool colours
Week 3 - An introduction to Fauvism and the artist Francois Neilly. Colour extension exercise, exploring mixing paint.
Week 4 - Francois Neilly continued
Week 5 - An introduction to pastels, looking at British artist Kurt Jackson
Easter Holidays
Week 7 - Adding mixed media, including threads, tissue paper etc to our Jackson inspired seascapes
